I cannot believe the amount of energy Patience has. Interesting to see the Grates go from a 3 piece band, to a 2 piece band with 2 other members at live shows.

Personally, I love the new songs and it was great to hear them live. Patience crowd surfing was fantastic, and her monster suit with confetti in the encore was great. Will be sure to see them next time they are in town. Got the all clear from the guys to tape this show.

First time recording with my sub-cardioid caps. I love the sound but got some mild bass distortion, despite running my levels low, powering on 12V, line in and having no level peaks. Probably didn't help that I stack taped. Regardless, it's barely noticeable.

01.07.2010 - Guineafowl

Saw these guys at BIGSOUND 2010. Fun act to watch. Although I understand the lead singer uses the stage name Guineafowl, he should really make it a band name - he would just be pretty average without the band. Regardless, good to see them supporting The Grates.

Didn't record tonight.
Pretty good band to chill to after a long day at work.
The hits were great, the rest of the set was pretty average, think the guys were a little drunk to be honest. Fun though!

21.04.2011 - Ben Harper (ft the Innocent Criminals)

What a show! Bluesfest had billed Ben Harper to play with his band Relentless 7. To everyone's surprise though, he played a reunion show with The Innocent Criminals! Ben Harper hasn't played with the Innocent Criminals since late 2008 - so it was destined to be a great show.

An amazing opening to the festival - glad I chose to see Ben over ZZ-Top. It was truly an experience to be in that Mojo tent that night. Not only is this worth downloading because of the reunion, but you need to hear the story about Leon and his Djembe for that night!

A quick note: When recording the levels suddenly dropped on my recorder a few times throughout the show. I've edited them with envelopes and brought it back to normal. Hence why it's taken so long to get uploaded.

A Quick Thank You

Firstly, I just wanted to thank Kate Miller-Heidke for linking my blog on her Facebook & Twitter. My web traffic exploded in a matter of an hour when she did, and I've been getting consistent viewings since. I'd also like to thank the other handful of artists, fan sites, tapers and more who have found my blog and linked it around.

I've learnt a lot in the past 12 months I've been taping - the in's and out's of taping, editing and more. I have that Taper Section forum to thank for that.

I just wish Australia, its venues and artists were more open to taping, like in the US. Maybe in time..
